Adamawa arrests 34 stray animals
The Commissioner for Environment, Mrs. Arziki Sawa, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Yola that the animals were arrested by the state mobile sanitation task force.
She said the decision to arrest the stray animals followed the recent ban on stray animals in the state capital and its environs.
Sawa said the state government also imposed a fine of N5,000 per head on any animal arrested for straying on major streets.
She said the task force was waiting for the owners of the animals to come forward, claim and pay the fines before the animals would be released.
She said, “So far, a total of 34 stray animals have been arrested and handed over to the state mobile sanitation unit.
“The owners are expected to go to their office located on the premises of Adamawa Urban Planning and Development Authority.
“They are expected to pay N5,000 if they want to retrieve their animals”.
